Key numbers

  • Devon and Coterra’s $58 billion merger puts the combined HQ in Houston
  • Houston now home to 28 Fortune 500 headquarters
  • Siemens Energy expanding in Houston as part of a $1 billion U.S. investment

Expand Energy, North America’s largest natural gas producer, said in February that it will move its headquarters from Oklahoma City to Houston in mid-2026. The move centers on its executive team, and Oklahoma City will remain a major operating hub. The company has grown into a $26 billion investment-grade business in the S&P 500.

A merger adds another

Devon Energy’s $58 billion merger with Houston-based Coterra Energy puts the combined company’s headquarters in Houston under the Devon name. According to the Greater Houston Partnership, that brings the region to 28 Fortune 500 headquarters, 23 of them in energy.

Expansions, too

Siemens Energy is expanding in Houston as part of a $1 billion U.S. investment in compression equipment manufacturing, engineering and power generation services, driven in part by rising electricity demand from data centers. SmartestEnergy US is opening a Galleria-area office with up to 100 employees.
